The Mountain Top by MountainMan246 The Mountain Top by MountainMan246
Why I'm on the mountain.

The Peak
I stand on top of the peak,
A mountain rests beneath me.
I’m lost in thought; I know not to speak,
For miles around, I can see.
Wind whispers and whistles, the sound fills one’s ears,
Sheer height has made my mouth dry.
Standing on top, it’s a triumph deserving of cheers,
I imagine being a bird soaring upwards, wings angled up to the sky.
The air smells sharp, crisp, and clear,
An empty scent so filling.
My joyful heart is soaring, erasing any fear,
From my eyes, tears are spilling.
Elevation has made my hands go numb,
Clouds turn golden from the sunlight, so beautiful it almost cannot be.
The sights have struck my brain dumb,
In the stomach is a leaping sensation, uncontrollable glee.
